My late stepmother (whom I called Mom because we were close while living in Indonesia) told me one rainy day...
In Indonesia, they say that places with "Ci" in the name get more rain.
And that day, we played a game where I had to say place names with "Ci" in them...
Cikampek, Cibubur, Cianjur, Cirebon, Cimahi.....
Later on, I wondered why Mom said places with "Ci" get more rain?
Could it be true? I was curious, so I asked my Indonesian friends, but they didn't know.
Since Mom wasn't the type to make things up, I searched hard.
It turns out that in Indonesia, there's a saying that places with "Ci" in their names get more rain.
Areas like Cianjur/Cipanas/Cimahi/Cirebon in Java are known for frequent rainfall due to their climate and mountainous terrain.
Indonesians naturally connected this tendency for rain with the saying.
And "CI" means water in Sundanese, a common prefix used to denote water.
My Mom is awesome! Today, I miss her even more~
