I was trying to do Seorak in 7 hours this year. I've been attending cycling academy since last summer and rode hard even through the winter without any off-season.
My current mileage is 4,430km. I've never managed 10,000km in a year, but this year I really thought I could do it. In April, I even completed three Gran Fondos.
But last Saturday at the Ttukseom Cheongu Apartment exit, I was slowing down and going straight when a 63-year-old elderly person driving a sedan suddenly cut in front of me without looking and hit me hard...
After police arrived, the elderly person called 119 and was taken away. He admitted to the police officer that he suddenly cut in and caused the accident, and photos were taken at the scene. When I called to check, I heard he had cracks in three places on his coccyx and was admitted to the hospital right away.
When I asked about his insurance, he said he only has personal accident insurance and no liability insurance.
It looks like the elderly person will be found 100% at fault, and my bike repair costs seem to be around 150, but I'm not sure if he will properly compensate me...
Two days after the accident, my left side hurt so much that I went to see an orthopedic doctor and found out I have a stress fracture in my 12th rib. It's an injury requiring about 4 weeks of recovery time.
After putting in all this effort... I can't ride my bike throughout the holiday, my head keeps spinning about how the accident will be resolved, and I already booked all the transportation and accommodation for next week's Hwacheon event...
I'm complaining because I feel so wronged and frustrated...
