Apple Stops Selling $200 'Pro Apps' Bundle for Education
Following the launch of Apple Creator Studio this week, Apple quietly discontinued sales of its high-value-for-money 'Pro Apps Bundle for Education'.
The bundle included Apple's Final Cut Pro, Logic Pro, Motion, Compressor, and MainStage with a perpetual license (one-time purchase) format, priced at $199.99 in the US (approximately 299,000 won in Korea). Since purchasing all of them individually would cost a total of $629.95, the bundle allowed users to save over $400.
Launched in 2017, this bundle was sold through Apple's online education store. However, since there was no student/teacher verification system in the US and some other countries, most general users were also able to purchase it.
Users who have already purchased the bundle can continue to use the apps. However, it appears that Apple has begun strictly blocking unauthorized sharing of the bundle apps. According to MacRumors, if someone tries to share the app by compressing it into a ZIP file, an error will occur when the recipient tries to run the app.
Apple Creator Studio is a new subscription-based bundle service that allows users to use Final Cut Pro, Logic Pro, Pixelmator Pro, Motion, Compressor, and MainStage on Mac and/or iPad. The price in the US is $12.99 per month or $129 per year.
(The Korean price is approximately 19,000 won per month / 190,000 won per year)
Meanwhile, Mac still offers perpetual purchase versions of all six apps.
Apple Creator Studio subscribers can also access 'intelligent features' and 'premium content' offered in Pixelmator Pro, Numbers, Pages, Keynote, and Freeform in the future.
