Because I was afraid of the rain, I gave up on Seoraksan and watched many reviews and videos, sending envy and applause.
One day I had a break, so I wondered where to go.
Should I go uphill a lot from Seoul to Sokcho, Sokcho to Seoul, Chuncheon to Sokcho?
While pondering,
I decided to ride from Jeongdongjin to Jeongseojing, which I wouldn't be able to do if the days weren't long.
I had a file from the team leader, so I went down to Gangneung Terminal and
moved to Jeongdongjin by bicycle and slept at the reserved accommodation.
I woke up at 4 am, ate breakfast, prepared everything, and
departed from Jeongdongjin Beach at 5:06 am.
The weather was cloudy, so I couldn't see the sunrise clearly. The sunrise time on the weather app was 5:06 am, so I took a picture and left.
Although I couldn't see the sunrise in the cloudy weather, it was good that there was no sun all morning.
Because it was an early morning departure, the first uphill to Daeguanryeong had few cars on the coastal road or in Gangneung city, so I could go without much stress.
The Daeguanryeong uphill was the hardest. No matter what uphill I went up, it seemed like there was no end.
I thought 'Wow!! If I turn the handlebars, I'll have a fun downhill ride. Should I go down and ride the East Coast Bike Path or take the bus back up...' dozens of times ㅎㅎ
After finishing Daeguanryeong and climbing Taegisan uphill, the uphills that followed were not psychologically burdensome.
As I ran, I saw Yangpyeong 00km, Hyeongseong 00km, Seoul 000km. I thought 'Let's go to Yangpyeong first,' and rode hard.
I arrived at the Yangpyeong County Art Museum at 2 pm.
It was about 230 km so far.
There were still about 90 km to Jeongseojing, so I thought I would go leisurely before sunrise.
But it was the real challenge from now on.
I drank water, but because it was hot and I sweated a lot, my speed slowed down and cramps started in my legs.
Around Sijeongbang, a couple passed by, so I tried to follow them, but I was already exhausted. Because I kept breathing through my mouth, my voice didn't come out well, so I just said hello and headed towards Seoul.
It wasn't raining when I passed the submerged bridge, but in our club chat room, they said it was raining heavily in the west, so they advised me to go home quickly before it rained. My house is in Ilwon-dong, but I went all the way to the submerged bridge. They told me to go home because it was too bold.
It started to rain after that, and I hesitated at a rest stop for a while. With 40 km left, I thought I would regret it for the rest of my life if I didn't finish it, so I started riding in the rain.
At first, it was a little awkward, but the rain lowered my body temperature, and I definitely felt less tired. As I rode towards Jeongseojing in the rain, I thought 'If I had known this would happen, I should have gone to Seoraksan!!' ㅎㅎ
I rode hard and safely reached Jeongseojing.
The course file was 293 km, but because I got lost, it became 300 km.
After taking a certification photo and resting because I was so tired,
I rode another 55 km and arrived home.
It was so hard that I don't think I'll ever do it again, but like those who went to Seoraksan Grand Prix this year, I made a memory for life, so I'm proud of myself.
Thank you for reading this boring long post and have a good time everyone ^^
