I'd been riding a TCR for a long time up through last year, then rode an Evolve Sima briefly over the winter, but it didn't feel like a fit for my riding style, so I switched to a Winspace SLC5.
I switched because I saw a lot of people raving about the Evolve, figuring it must be a pretty solid frame that good, and at first I felt like the responsiveness was incredibly quick. But as I rode it more, it felt like it was beyond a level I could actually handle, so I went looking for a more balanced/mellow frame, and since Winspace was running a discount event, I bought the Winspace SLC5 + Roon Hyper 5 combo. Weight is 7.1kg (since I built the spec however I wanted, going with a higher-end groupset would probably get you into the 6kg range)
At first I thought it felt pretty ordinary. To put it less kindly, it's hard to point to any single standout strength. It feels well-balanced, in the sense that it's hard to pin down any particular weakness either. Compared to the Madone, Cervelo, and Emonda I've ridden before, I honestly found it hard to find anything it fell short on.
Compared to the TCR, my legs hurt the same on climbs, but maybe because I also shortened the crank arm length, it was equally hard but I didn't blow up midway through lol. That might also just be a new-bike-effect thing though. On flats, the wheels stood out more than the frame—maybe because of the carbon spokes, it felt light and easy to maintain speed.
All the new colors that just came out were so pretty that it took me several days to pick one. Seeing the actual models shipped out at the shop, I think I would've been happy with any color I picked.
I've swapped bikes several times recently, but I've finally settled on one I really like, so I plan to ride it often. Ride safe, everyone!
