The Ministry of Education plans to introduce AI-generated passages into the English section of the CSAT (College Scholastic Ability Test) mock exams starting next year. Given that examiners have long struggled to select English passages due to the nature of a foreign-language test, the idea is to use AI to shorten question-setting time and improve passage quality.
This announcement was included in the "Plan to Improve the Stable Difficulty System for CSAT Question-Setting" released by the Ministry of Education on the 11th. In the mid-to-long term, an AI-based English passage generation system will be developed. Currently, the foreign-language section mainly uses passages quoted from existing published sources to avoid disputes over passage errors, but this approach has limits when it comes to setting questions at a level appropriate for the curriculum. The Ministry of Education expects the AI system to shorten question-setting time and improve passage quality. A pilot run is targeted for the 2028 CSAT mock exam, with development starting in the second half of this year.
