Semi-DIY Interior Review
We're starting our interior review, which was full of twists and turns! Follow me!
After deciding to finally do the interior design we'd been putting off, I did a ton of research on Instagram and found a supposedly well-known contractor.
We wanted to raise the ceiling, replace the floor with ceramic tiles, demolish the kitchen to create an open kitchen with an island sink, use hidden doors, and install a soaking tub in the bathroom...
The estimate came back at 1.3 billion rupiah? And the construction period was supposed to be 6 months. Ugh!!
I couldn't let it go, so I gently persuaded my husband. We should do it ourselves~~
In conclusion, the total cost was about 3.78 billion rupiah.
But my husband and I fought like crazy, we took the kids to trade shows in BSD and Bekasi to sell furniture, and I developed a bone disease from all the medication... Thinking about it now...
I'm not sure what the benefit was, but financially, we were very satisfied.
Although I don't know much about interiors, the first step in my process was
- 1. Reviving Dead Space.... Let's demolish as much as possible!
We hired a manager-engineer to check how much we could modify.
However, since the unit above us had also done a lot of structural changes... well, they asked why we were doing it, and there was some friction.
We raised the ceiling by about 15 centimeters, leaving only space for the built-in air conditioner, and demolished unnecessary walls.
As you know, labor costs in Indonesia are very cheap compared to Korea.
So I hired two workers and had my husband supervise them to start a large-scale demolition.
The workers were two handymen with interior experience
Handyman -> Daily wage Rp 250,000 (including lunch)
After demolition, waste disposal cost Rp 500,000 per 4-ton truckwas paid.
I thought I had to buy a waste container, but then I looked it up on Tokopedia and it was incredibly cheap.
If you think demolition is more than half of the interior work, you're right.
