Previous generation saddles were low and sleek, and when decorating a bicycle, they felt like the perfect finishing touch, but these days the saddles seem really hideously ugly from the side view.
Previous generation saddles were low and narrow, so there was the issue of being uncomfortable, but during the transitional period in the mid-to-late 2010s when shifting to short saddles, those saddles were quite comfortable, weren't they? Even just up to the generation right before the Selle SLR Boost, the design was really nice, but with the new version, something seems off.
In particular, since saddles that used to have stacks of 35-40mm have all jumped up to around 50mm, the side view looks bloated no matter what.
I don't understand why everyone is chasing after saddles that are tall, chunky, and wide.
