KOSPI recovered the 5000 line in the early part of the 23rd session, then narrowed gains to finish in the 4990s.
Today, KOSPI closed at 4990.07, up 37.54 points (0.76%) from the previous session, setting a new record once again.
The index opened at 4984.08, up 31.55 points (0.64%) from the previous session, and expanded gains to reach 5021.13 at one point, setting an intraday record high, but gains were reduced as profit-taking selling emerged afterwards.
As of 3:30 PM today, the won-to-dollar exchange rate in the Seoul foreign exchange market showed 1465.8 won, down 4.1 won from the previous day.
In the securities market, foreigners and institutions bought a net 133.3 billion won and 491.2 billion won respectively, while individuals showed net selling of 725.6 billion won.
Last night, the New York stock market saw all three major indices rise as improved investment sentiment continued following President Trump's tariff withdrawal on Europe.
