U.S. December retail sales fell significantly short of expectations and appeared to be stagnant.
On the 10th (local time), the U.S. Department of Commerce revealed that December of last year U.S. retail sales stood at $735 billion, remaining flat compared to the previous month.
Economists had expected total retail sales to increase 0.4% in December and sales excluding automobiles and gasoline to also increase 0.4%.
