Free education provided by a non-profit organization for children of low-income families
The first cohort consists of 3 programs: 3D Design, Smart Factoring, and Administrative Operations
In the Cikarang region, where Indonesia's largest industrial complex is located near the capital Jakarta, a non-profit vocational training center for children of low-income families (YAYASAN HANURI EDUKASI CENTRE, represented by ELI EDARWATI, hereinafter YAYASAN HANURI) is scheduled to begin its first classes on January 15, 2024.
In this region, which serves as an industrial complex bringing together large factories and partner companies in the global automotive, motorcycle, and electronics industries, the primary reason for inadequate supply of skilled technical workers in most enterprises is the significantly low level of technical training among high school and university graduates.
Because educational materials for learning new technologies are not properly distributed, students' learning levels are naturally low, and newly hiring companies must provide considerable training after hiring.
The way to supplement the problems of these regular educational programs is through infrastructure and training that can teach new technologies commonly applied in companies. Of course, technical colleges and 4-year universities that charge high tuition have the infrastructure to teach the latest technologies and are running educational programs.
YAYASAN HANURI completed its registration as a non-profit organization in July this year with the goal of providing free education to children of low-income families who cannot enter higher schools and creating new opportunities for them to obtain stable jobs and escape economic poverty.
From August to the present, we have visited national high schools (general and vocational) in the CIKARANG region and held briefing sessions with teachers and students. As of November 25, we have received recommendation letters from 49 students from each school and are currently conducting interviews.
The education programs starting January 15 next year consist of 3 programs: 3D Design, Smart Factoring, and Administrative Operations. Each educational program is 6 months long with 10 trainees per program.
- 3D Design: 3D design required in mold injection factories and others will be taught through repeated hands-on modeling work from the basic operations of SIEMENS UG-NX software.
- Smart Factoring: We conduct PLC (Mitsubishi, Siemens) training and 2D design training, which are commonly used in both new installations and maintenance as automated equipment is introduced in most medium to large factories.
- Administrative Operations: We conduct Korean language education and training in accounting, taxation, and finance.
YAYASAN HANURI has decided to create infrastructure with one PC per person and educational software, and provide transportation and meal allowances so that trainees can concentrate on education for 6 months.

* First-time educational sponsorship initiative
YAYASAN HANURI was started with 1 billion rupiah in founding donations from a Korean representative operating a small business in the CIKARANG region. According to Indonesian non-profit organization establishment regulations, we registered as a non-profit organization with 5 Indonesian founders, and are actively working to lease an educational facility and welcome the first cohort of trainees.
PT. HANKOOK TIRE INDONESIA (CEO Jang Du-young) has sponsored the educational facility rental, and approximately 20 corporate and individual sponsorship positions have been established to provide support. Some have sponsored desks, chairs, and partitions, and others have volunteered to sponsor trainee uniforms.
'Education is the future, not profit' – YAYASAN HANURI's vocational training center, conducted as a pure volunteer activity, will be the first of its kind new form of corporate social responsibility program in Indonesia.
YAYASAN HANURI aims to cover all costs, including educational facility infrastructure construction, facility operations, instructor salaries, and trainee living expenses through sponsorships. This program has a structure of continuous cost consumption, and questions inevitably remain about whether it can be sustained solely through the support of those who provide financial or in-kind donations.
The small business representative who willingly contributed the founding donation expressed positive sentiments, saying, "We must continuously fill the gaps. We need to conduct training so that trainees can get jobs, and if companies actively hire… companies will provide sponsorships, and if graduates in employment send sponsorships little by little for their juniors, creating a virtuous cycle, then this program can be sustained for a long time."
We hope that the meaning embodied in YAYASAN HANURI's motto, 'People walking together on the road, Companions,' will touch the hearts of more entrepreneurs and individuals in the Korean community, so that small efforts can be contributed. We look forward to the interest and support of many people so that this program can be sustained for a long time.
