2026 Seorak Gran Fondo Course Reduction Operation Notice Due to Adverse Weather
Dear Seorak Gran Fondo Participants,
As strong rain and wind are forecasted on the day of the event that meet the standards for event reduction, and after extensive discussions with related agencies including military and police, prioritizing the safety of all participants, we have made a final decision not to operate the Gran Fondo course and instead operate only the Medio Fondo course on a reduced scale.
This is an unavoidable safety measure, and we appreciate your understanding and cooperation.
We are providing the following information regarding the revised operational guidelines and essential safety rules for riding in rain conditions.
* Special aid stations will not be operated due to the Gran Fondo course not running.
1. Start Time and Awards Information (No Changes)
•Start Time: Proceeding as originally scheduled (Gran Fondo participants at 7:00 AM / Medio Fondo participants at 8:00 AM)
•Time Limit: To support safe completion, this year's Medio Fondo course will be operated without a time limit (cutoff).
•Awards: Although the course is reduced, awards for both Gran Fondo and Medio Fondo divisions will proceed as planned.
2. Essential Rain Riding Preparation Items and Equipment Maintenance
•Rain Jacket & Rear Light (Required): Since it will be rainy, please be sure to bring a rain jacket. For visibility, rear lights must always be turned on during the event.
•Clear Lens Goggles (Recommended): For visibility on wet roads, it is recommended to use clear lenses when wearing goggles.
•Brake Pad Replacement: Cork brake pads for carbon wheels show significantly reduced braking performance on wet surfaces, so please refrain from using them and be sure to replace with brake pads suitable for rainy conditions before participation.
3. Course Riding Precautions and Safety Measures
•Downhill Speed Absolutely Prohibited: On downhill sections such as Saldun Pass, Guryong Pass, and Omizae Pass, reduced speed riding is essential and excessive speed is strictly prohibited.
•Beware of Hypothermia: If symptoms of hypothermia develop during riding, we strongly recommend stopping riding immediately for your safety and boarding the organizing committee's support vehicle.
• Field Staff Cooperation: Please actively cooperate with the guidance of course operation staff and marshals.
4. Accident Liability and Emergency Contact

• Accident Liability Notice: For 'accidents between participants and fall accidents' without the organizer's fault, the organizer assumes no responsibility beyond on-site first aid and hospital transfer.
In case of emergency, please be sure to individually sign up for accident insurance covering the event period at your own expense before participation.
