Ambassadors of six Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries to South Korea promised to prioritize the supply of crude oil and energy to Korea at a meeting with Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance Koo Yoon-cheol.

According to the Ministry of Economy and Finance on the 5th, Vice PM Koo met with ambassadors to Korea from six GCC countries—the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, and Bahrain—at the UAE diplomatic residence on the 3rd to discuss future economic cooperation plans. At the meeting, the ambassadors stated that "Korea is our top priority country for cooperation" and pledged to "communicate closely with the Korean government to ensure stable supply of energy." They further emphasized that "the more critical the situation, the more important it is to have an unwavering partnership."

The statement is interpreted as a response to Vice PM Koo's request for uninterrupted supply of key resources including crude oil, naphtha, and urea, noting that "if the Middle East conflict prolongs, the negative impact on Korea's economy could increase."
