Immediately after the failed ceasefire negotiations between the United States and Iran, Israel launched preparatory operations to engage in combat as if waiting for this moment.
Major Israeli media outlets including Walla, Kan, and Channel 12 reported on the 12th (local time) that Eyal Zamir, Chief of Staff of the Israeli military, ordered the military to maintain "maximum readiness" and prepare for confrontation in preparation for resuming combat with Iran. According to Kan, a senior defense official stated, "The war ended too soon." Israel has continued attempts to nullify the ceasefire negotiations themselves by bombing Lebanon under the pretext of targeting Hezbollah, a pro-Iran armed faction, despite the two-week ceasefire agreement between the U.S. and Iran.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel also visited the "buffer zone" in southern Lebanon, which is occupied and controlled by the Israeli military, on the same day and stated, "The war in Lebanon is still ongoing. There is still more work to be done," making clear his intention not to stop military operations against Hezbollah.
Israel is also engaging in blatant hostile acts toward the UN peacekeeping forces stationed in Lebanon. The UN peacekeeping forces issued a statement on the same day stating, "Israeli military attacked peacekeeping force vehicles by ramming them with tanks or through 'warning fire.'" The Israeli military has also obstructed the movement of peacekeeping forces and destroyed surveillance cameras at checkpoints.
