Thousands of Cubans have been revealed to be fighting in the Ukraine war on Russia's side.
Axios, a U.S. political news outlet, reported on the 14th local time that the Donald Trump administration has made this report to Congress.
A report sent to key congressional committees on the 8th stated, "Cuban nationals represent the largest group of foreign fighters supporting Russian military operations in Ukraine."
It continued, "Most open-source information suggests that at any given point, the number of Cuban citizens participating in combat in Ukraine is likely between 1,000 and 5,000."
Furthermore, "Ukrainian intelligence sources estimate that thousands of (Cuban fighters) are directly deployed on the Ukrainian border," the report added.
While the report stated there is no evidence that the Cuban government sent all of its fighters, it emphasized that "there are notable signs suggesting that the regime was aware and tolerated it, or selectively supported it."
