Messi's Opening Goal - It was a first half dominated by Messi. Argentina attacked Austria with well-organized passes from the start and managed to earn a penalty kick in the 17th minute of the first half, but Messi missed it. However, in the 38th minute of the first half, he scored a beautiful opening goal that led the game, effectively erasing his earlier penalty miss.

Messi's World Cup Record Goals - With this goal, he surpassed Klose's record of 16 goals to set a new World Cup record with 17 goals. While players like Mbappé might break this record in the future, it remains uncertain. Thomas Müller from Germany (now at Vancouver) also scored an impressive 10 goals across his first two World Cups (5 goals each in South Africa 2010 and Brazil 2014), leading many to believe he would surpass records given his momentum. However, after Germany's group stage exit in the 2018 Russia World Cup, German football struggled for a while, and Müller’s performance declined, making record-breaking seem like a distant dream. Yet, Messi, who has won everything including the last World Cup, showed great determination by scoring a hat-trick (3 goals) in his first game and an opening goal in the second game, with all of Argentina's group stage goals coming from him, truly showcasing what an amazing player he is. I'm also curious to see how Ronaldo will perform tomorrow against Portugal and Uzbekistan.

Second Half - Austria clearly lacks power compared to Argentina but might have a chance if they use their tall players for set-piece header goals. Although there were many opportunities created in the first half, it seems that the second half could end without many goals despite both teams' strategies remaining to be seen.
