Three-term Democratic Party lawmaker Lee Eun-joo expressed her intention to become the chair of the standing committee on AI. The ministry responsible for AI policy is the Ministry of Science and ICT, which is under the jurisdiction of the National Assembly's Science, Technology, Information, Broadcasting and Communications Committee (STIBC).
Lee Eun-joo said on JTBC's on the 12th, "Yes, I haven't done it yet" in response to a question asking if she intended to become the chair of the standing committee.
When asked where her target was, Lee Eun-joo said, "I am basically interested in the economy. Industry, economy, AI, I am interested in those areas," and added, "I can't just pick one thing." She also said, "AI is something that can be done" when asked about the STIBC.
