Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry Oil and Gas Director General Laode Sulaeman said Russia is interested in investing in crude oil storage facilities construction in Indonesia, and this is separate from the Tuban Green Field Refinery (GRR) project being pursued by Pertamina, a state-owned oil and gas company in Indonesia, and Rosneft Singapore. Sulaeman said that a team from the Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry Oil and Gas Directorate General is currently in Russia to prepare for technical cooperation on procuring Russian crude oil, fuel oil, and LPG. However, the procurement method and import volume are still undecided, and they aim for long-term cooperation.
Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia said he secured import contracts for Russian crude oil and LPG with Russian energy companies, including Rosneft, Ruschem, Zarubezhneft, and Lukoil during a meeting. He also discussed the development of refining infrastructure and crude oil storage facilities in Indonesia, nuclear energy utilization, and potential expansion of cooperation in the mineral sector. This cooperation is being explored through both G2G and B2B approaches. Meanwhile, Rosatom, a Russian state-owned nuclear company, submitted a proposal for two nuclear power plant constructions in Indonesia by April 2025.
