The Korean Association in Indonesia (Chairman Kim Jong-hun) successfully held the '2026 Board Regular General Meeting' on February 5 at the Sheraton Grand Jakarta Gandaria City Hotel in Jakarta and finalized key agenda items for the advancement and great unity of the Korean community.

u Dignified Ceremony and Well-organized Report of Attendance

The regular general meeting was successfully held with a total of 96 executives in attendance, including 43 present in person and 53 submitting proxies out of 144 registered executives. This result demonstrated the concentrated participation of key figures in the Korean community in in-depth discussions of major issues, and drew attention to the well-organized and efficient meeting operations that maximized the effectiveness of actual decision-making. The meeting proceeded in a solemn atmosphere that reminisced about the roots and identity of the Korean community through the national ceremony, beginning with the attendance report and declaration of opening.

u Reestablishing Status Toward the Next 100 Years... "We Will Approach Our Community Through Innovation and Service"

In remarks presented prior to substantive agenda deliberation, Chairman Kim Jong-hun evaluated that "this general meeting will be a turning point in reestablishing the status of the Korean Association and preparing for the next 100 years." Following this, Senior Vice Chairman Kim Jong-hee demonstrated his commitment to becoming a Korean Association that approaches the Korean community with even higher passion and dedication in 2026, based on reflection on previous activities.

Senior Vice Chairman Yang Tae-hwa, emphasizing internal and external promotion and qualitative improvement in social welfare, stated "we will successfully implement the Korean Association integrated platform within the first half of this year and achieve practical innovation." Senior Vice Chairman Lee Jung-ho commended the efforts of executives, the secretariat, and the youth council dedicated to external cooperation and various events. Senior Vice Chairman Lee Ji-wan shared the achievements of last year's Korean Language Day and urged the continued guidance and support of senior board members to ensure the implementation of diverse cultural and artistic projects this year.

u Consensus on Necessity of Korean Confederation Establishment and Vice Chairman Choi Tae-rip's Spontaneous Donation of '1 Billion Rupiah'

During the agenda deliberation process, discussions were held carefully regarding the necessity of establishing the 'Korean Confederation in Indonesia' to consolidate the capabilities of various Korean organizations in Indonesia and strengthen external representation. The executives formed a consensus on the need for a system to unify the voice of the Korean community in the rapidly changing local environment, and agreed to review the direction carefully over time by gathering opinions from all sectors.

In the subsequent deliberation of the revised bylaws, there was a progressive resolution regarding the operational method of the Korean Association building construction fund. Shortly after the passage of a clause providing flexibility to the existing strict fund use regulations (allowing other uses with board resolution), Vice Chairman Choi Tae-rip drew attention by making a spontaneous on-the-spot donation of 1 billion rupiah for the construction of the Korean Association building. The Vice Chairman's dramatic donation brought new vitality to the long-cherished project of building the Korean Association and served as an important turning point in making the previously stalled construction discussions tangible through setting an example for the community.

u Innovation of Community Convenience Through Digital Transformation, Accelerating Integrated Platform Construction

The progress status of the Korean Association integrated platform construction project, which will innovate community convenience through digital transformation, was also detailed. The editor of Korean News, who was in charge of the report, announced six core functions confirmed through practical review. The platform includes real-time safety alerts, decentralized regional communities, Korean business directory, AI chatbot-based digital mediation and administrative consultation center, and aims to complete vendor selection within the first quarter and launch by the second half of 2026. This project is expected to maximize the administrative efficiency of the Korean Association and become a business hub that provides practical assistance to community life.

u 2026 Vision of Harmony and Progress... "Time for All Sectors to Unite Their Capabilities"

Throughout 2026, the Korean Association will develop diverse projects for harmony and next-generation development of the Korean community. In the first half, a Korean youth business field trip program providing hands-on experience to young people as future leaders is scheduled, and in the second half, a charity golf tournament to spread sharing culture in the Korean community and a green run event promoting healthy energy will follow. The Association also plans to solidify community bonds through the Indonesian Korean Association executive friendship golf outing for executives to strengthen bonds and the Korean Association year-end dinner to meaningfully close out the year.

Activities of affiliated organizations will also become more specialized. Korean News will enhance timeliness in information delivery and serve as a hub of communication, while the Korean Cultural and Arts Federation will lead in emotional cultivation of community members through diverse cultural events. The Korean Youth Association will activate next-generation networks, while the Indonesian-Korean Cultural Research Institute will continue its role as a bridge for cultural exchange and mutual understanding between the two countries through open lectures and book clubs.

As the official event was concluding, a surprise transmission ceremony for Advisor Son Han-pyeong drew attention. Advisor Son, selected as the 19th Korean Day Award recipient, was unable to receive his commendation in person due to a schedule staying in his home country at the time of the embassy's New Year's courtesy call, but shared the joy at this general meeting through a special congratulatory event prepared by fellow executives. At this meaningful and unannounced occasion, Advisor Son conveyed humble thanks, saying he was honored to receive this award thanks to the foundation built by his seniors and juniors, warming the atmosphere of the venue.

Closing the meeting, Chairman Kim Jong-hun said, "Community participation and consent are most important, and as this is a time when we must unite all capabilities in each field and achieve great unity, I ask for your active interest and cooperation, executives," concluding the general meeting. After completing all agenda items, attendees took commemorative photos and shared a luncheon together to strengthen their bonds.
