We collect and summarize the stories circulating in stock Telegram channels every day.
Today, Samsung Electronics' rise of nearly 5% and the KOSPI's recovery to 7,000 were the most talked about topics. The surge in semiconductor post-processing companies and Thursday's US-China summit talks followed.
Samsung Electronics rose 4.98% and the KOSPI regained 7,000
The KOSPI closed up 1.65% at 7,007.72, marking the first time it ended above 7,000 since September 10th. Samsung Electronics rose 4.98%, surpassing its 60-day moving average, while Samsung C&T rose 4.70%, SK Square rose 4.45%, and Samsung Electro-Mechanics rose 3.0%. SK Hynix rose only 0.6%. Institutions bought 1 trillion 381 billion won, with semiconductor vice presidents leading institutional net buying. Individuals sold 2 trillion 910 billion won, and foreigners sold 129.7 billion won. KOSDAQ rose 1.11% to 836.27, marking its fifth consecutive rise. The USD/KRW exchange rate fell by 2.3 won to 1,381.0 won, the lowest in eight trading days.
The catalyst was exports. According to data released by the Customs Service, exports from September 1st to 20th amounted to $71.4 billion, a 78.3% increase year-on-year and a record high for the same period. Semiconductor exports reached $34.1 billion, a 259.4% increase, accounting for 47.8% of total exports. According to securities firm data, DRAM module exports totaled $8.39 billion, a 247% increase from the previous month. Last Friday's rise in US semiconductor stocks, with SanDisk up 10.99% and Micron up 3.92%, also contributed. Goldman Sachs predicted that unmet demand in 2026 would carry over to 2027, leading to a tighter supply-demand balance next year than this year. Bank of America estimated that DRAM and NAND prices rose by 20% to 30% from the previous quarter and projected the global memory market size at $2 trillion by 2030.
On the other hand, secondary batteries and automobiles declined. LG Energy Solution fell 3.3%, L&F fell 4.0%, POSCO Future M fell 3.4%, Hyundai Motor fell 1.8%, and Kia fell 1.9%. Reports that negotiations for US investment were stalled due to concerns about commercial viability led to declines in nuclear power and shipbuilding, resulting in more KOSPI-listed stocks declining than rising.
Semiconductor post-processing companies rose sharply
Signetics hit the upper limit, while TSMC rose 23.4%, WCI rose 19.6%, Hana Micron rose 16.0%, and SFA Semiconductor rose 15.7%. WCI's recent 162.1 billion won contract for inspection equipment with Samsung Electronics and its mention of a sixth-generation high bandwidth memory wafer tester were cited as reasons. SFA Semiconductor, spun off from Samsung Electronics' Onyang plant, saw an analysis by a securities firm predicting record earnings next year due to increased outsourcing of packaging and testing volumes. This was backed by last week's report that Samsung Electronics increased its outsourcing of DDR5 modules and SSD production, and this weekend's exclusive report that it will double the production of fourth-generation high bandwidth memory next year.
J&T Corporation announced a 347 billion won investment in building a glass substrate plant in Gimcheon. This represents 140% of its equity capital and will be implemented from January 2027 to 2030.
Xi Jinping to visit the US on September 23rd, and the US and China will establish an AI dialogue channel
Yonhap News Agency reported that Xi Jinping will make a state visit to the United States from September 23rd to 25th. The summit meeting is scheduled for Thursday in Korean time. The Financial Times reported that US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen and Vice Premier He Lifeng met in New York and agreed to establish an official dialogue channel on artificial intelligence. Extension of the tariff and export control relaxation agreement expiring in November, the Iran war, China's tariffs on US LNG, and Boeing aircraft purchases were discussed as agenda items. The United States postponed its announcement of new tariffs related to excess production capacity after the meeting. Meanwhile, CNBC reported that China has reduced exports of rare earth magnets to the United States ahead of the meeting.
Domestic US investment is scheduled for a National Assembly report on Tuesday, but the timing of the memorandum of understanding signing has not yet been determined. Candidates include the 6.3 gigawatt Texas Ensinal gas power plant, up to eight nuclear reactors in the United States and Westinghouse stake investment, and Alaska LNG.
Samhyun wins order for humanoid actuators from North America
Samhyun announced that it has secured an initial mass production order from a global humanoid robot customer and will advance the operation of its automated line at Changwon Plant 2, starting delivery in December. It will supply completed modules with its own brand, not individual components. In China, Tesla's robotics team reportedly visited component factories in Ningbo and other parts of Zhejiang province last week, and several companies are said to have secured orders. The robot theme rose from eleventh to third place in the rankings.
Neo Sapiens soared 235% on its first day of listing
Artificial intelligence voice generation company Neo Sapiens closed at a price 235% higher than its IPO price on its first day of listing on KOSDAQ, with a trading volume of 969.3 billion won. Skylabs, which makes blood pressure measuring devices in the form of wearable devices, hit the upper limit after being named one of Time magazine's top global health tech companies for 2026. Lunite and Neurofit were also included in the same list. Bitcoin's return to $80,000 led Bitplanet to hit its upper limit, while Tomato System hit its upper limit as its US insurance business received final approval.
