Ambassador Yoon Soon-gu met with Rico Tri Putra Bayu Waas, Mayor of Medan, at the mayor's office on September 9 (Sat) morning.
Both sides agreed to further strengthen cooperation between Korea and Medan for the expansion of medical infrastructure in Medan, and to continue consultations on specific cooperation measures. In addition, they evaluated that exchanges between local governments in Medan and Gwangju are actively underway, and agreed to explore ways to expand economic cooperation, including investment attraction, and cooperation in the creative economy sector such as culture and food.
Ambassador Yoon urged that special attention be paid to creating a safe and stable living environment for Korean nationals residing in Medan, as well as for those who may move and stay in Medan in case of an emergency on Sumatra Island.
