DON BOSCO
The Don Bosco Pondok Indah school started in 1979. The Don Bosco Menado Alumni Contact Body initiated the idea of establishing a non-profit foundation. Some of the initiators include: Ir. Ciputra; Nico Kansil; Henry Sangor; Drs. Albert Runtuwene; Pieter Loho; Gerrad Paat; etc. The name chosen for the foundation is Perguruan Henricus Don Bosco. And the form of foundation chosen is a formal education foundation.
Don Bosco Pondok Indah School was established on July 4, 1980, legalized by notary deed no. 13 by notary Elisa Pondaag. The laying of the first stone for the school building located next to RSPI was done by the head of the board of trustees: Ir. Ciputra.
The kindergarten began operations in 1983. Operational permission was obtained based on a letter of approval from the Head of the Department of Education and Culture of DKI Jakarta No. SP 1136/01.IA/1.1985.
Elementary and junior high schools were established in 1984 with operational permits from the DKI Jakarta Department of Education and Culture No. SP. 1862/101.1A/1.1985, dated April 12, 1985. Meanwhile, the senior high school level began operations in 1987, accommodating graduates of the first junior high school batch. Operational permission was obtained based on SK Depdikbud No. Kep. 977 A/101-A/1’95.
The development of Don Bosco School at that time was very good. It required the foundation's management to provide a more adequate place and facilities. Subsequently, the Foundation approached Metropolitan Kencana (MK) and Pondok Indah Hospital (RSPI). The discussions with MK and RSPI resulted in an agreement to form a new foundation: YAYASAN PONDOK INDAH DON BOSCO – which still oversees Don Bosco schools at the kindergarten, elementary, junior high, and senior high school levels.
This new foundation was registered with notary Miryan Magdalena Indrani Wiardi, SH with number 28. In 1993, the Board of Trustees of the Yayasan Pondok Indah Don Bosco (YPIDB), based on a Memorandum of Understanding dated December 15, 1991, decided to relocate the school to a new location on Jl. TB. Simatupang. The MoU contains three important points:
1. The old location on JL. Taman Duta I – was returned to MK – and MK provided a larger new plot of land.
2. The size of the new land provided by MK = 7782 m2, located on Jl. Duta Indah // TB. Simatupang (the new location started construction in 1993 – completed in 1995. With more complete and adequate facilities.
3. The new building began to be used for educational activities in the 1995/1996 academic year. It was inaugurated on January 31 by Mr. Ir. Ciputra – until now.
Vision and Mission
VISION:
That the nation's people in general, and especially the younger generation/successor generation who are intelligent, agile, and have noble character, and have skills are the main capital for a self-reliant nation in the future.
MISSION:
Together with other elements of the nation, participate in efforts to enlighten the nation's life, according to the age level of learning for the successor generation of Indonesia, to achieve independence.
Prepare students to become enthusiastic, optimistic, and creative individuals who have high personal integrity with an intellectual, mental, moral, and physical foundation that is more superior than just adequate, and are devout to God Almighty.
