I had a bad experience related to Hyundai Motor Company.
I'm sharing this because others might experience the same thing.
Recently, my wife wanted to change her car, so I visited the GIIAS held in BSD.
While looking at different brands, I grabbed my wife when she wanted BYD and dragged her to the Hyundai booth to look at it and decide. I still don't have trust in Chinese cars...
After looking at various models, I decided on the Stargazer and went into Hyundai's booth where I negotiated for more than an hour and a half. They said they needed approval from their superior, so I got the confirmation. After that, the deal went through and I transferred a deposit of 5 million rupiah.
The negotiation was more successful than expected, so I went home and looked into selling my Toyota Veloz through a used car dealer. I got the vehicle appraised and completed the negotiation. To secure an additional 140 million rupiah or so, I also disposed of some stocks I held in Korea.
With the funds secured, my wife contacted the dealer to proceed with the transaction.
But...
They say they have no choice but to add another 30 million rupiah to the discount amount they agreed to negotiate. They say the deal can't go through because their superiors won't approve. (By the way, my wife is Indonesian so there were no communication errors.)
The dealer says if we can't do the deal with the 30 million rupiah increase, they'll give back the deposit and we should cancel.
The reason for breaking the contract is the dealer's trick of breaking their promise, and they say to end it by returning the deposit. I never expected them to add a penalty, but they say it will take 14 business days to return the deposit.
I posted this on a thread because I was frustrated, and it seems many of you have experienced the same type of fraud.
Then a Hyundai Motor Company employee sent me a direct message.
They said sorry for the inconvenience and asked me to send the vehicle booking contract. They asked for the name and contact information of the responsible sales dealer, so I sent all the information.
The conversation ended like this on August 21st.
After that, there was no response and no contact.
The used car dealer is trying to take the car, the deposit is being dragged out, and Hyundai is not responding...
So around lunch on August 27th, I inquired again about how things were being processed...
It wasn't until the next morning that I got a response.
Ultimately, they were having difficulty explaining that Hyundai couldn't take any action against the dealer.
So I responded by saying if there's nothing you can do to help, don't worry about it. You must be busy with month-end work, so take care of your job. Thank you for your hard work.
Then they said they would provide a 30 million rupiah discount and temporary license plates. They offered a condition more expensive than what the dealer had mentioned.
So... I refused.
I felt it was pathetic how Hyundai was using a strategy to deliberately waste a week, continue piling on stress, and keep me from talking about it on social media.
While saying they don't want to make excuses, they keep saying Hyundai has no way to handle it. But that is an excuse.
Employees at Hyundai Motor Indonesia... just because the dealer is not a Hyundai employee doesn't mean Hyundai has no responsibility. By failing to properly manage dealers, you are tarnishing Hyundai's reputation.
Instead of thinking about silencing customers who are victims of fraud, I hope you will properly manage Hyundai dealers.
As of the time I'm writing this, the deposit still hasn't been returned.
My wife and children's image of Hyundai has completely fallen to that of a fraudulent company. Now I can't even suggest buying a Korean car.
Hyundai Motor Company executives and employees!
Thank you very much for giving me this harsh experience for the first time while living in Indonesia for 16 years.
