The Indonesian government has closed 290 State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) that were unprofitable in order to increase budget efficiency. The closure is claimed to have saved Rp 50 trillion in the budget. President Prabowo Subianto aims to close 700 more unprofitable SOEs by the end of 2026. With this step, it is hoped that the number of SOEs will be reduced to around 200-250 companies and can save up to Rp 100 trillion in the budget. This measure is part of the government's efforts to improve the performance and transparency of SOEs in Indonesia.
