Google announced that it "will officially launch Google Maps with full functionality in Korea" and is accelerating preparations for the expansion of Google Maps in Korea by hiring a senior partnership manager.
The strategic partnership development manager, based in Seoul, will join Google's global product partnerships team to collaborate with private companies, public institutions and technology partners. The job posting states that Google is "building a team" around Korea's "monumental and historic turning point."
Google has confirmed that its plans for a full-featured map service in Korea include step-by-step directions, providing more clarity on the content accompanying the expanded service.
In a statement provided to The Korea Herald through Google Korea, Google said, "We plan to introduce Google Maps with all features, including navigation and directions, in Korea."
Google did not disclose specific details about the launch date or additional features.
