My experience with Openclaw deleting things automatically.

152

I've been running OpenClaw on my home desktop PC since March.
About a month and a half ago I connected Hermes to it, so I now run Hermes + OpenClaw as a personal assistant.

But there's one rather annoying(?) problem, so I'm posting this question on the AI board.

Lately my system keeps getting wiped,
and it has now happened a total of 9 times.
(Not a complete format — it's more that everything under the root folder gets deleted, as if a hacker broke in at a certain time and ran rm -rf * at root or some specific location)
One of those times it happened in WSL2 Linux on Windows, so Windows itself got wiped and wouldn't boot, and I ended up installing Ubuntu Linux on its own instead of Windows.

I put rules in the operating instructions forbidding things like rm -rf *.. but it even deleted a separate backup folder, which is a real headache.

And bringing the system back up is its own ordeal.

In between I also get attacks scanning for open ports and endless root attacks, so I wondered whether this was a hacker's doing.
I even added a feature that checks system security daily and notifies me on Telegram if anything is off, and even when nothing major turns up,
the deletion happens without fail, as if the AI is killing itself.

Given that it lines up with Cron events.. it looks like it reaches rm -rf * through some logic of its own. (It also seems to create service accounts by itself sometimes)

Is there anyone who has run OpenClaw and Hermes for a long time and experienced the same thing as me,
and how did you find a workaround to keep the service running stably?

I'd appreciate any help.
