One of the largest sovereign wealth funds in Asia, Temasek Holdings from Singapore, is making a new investment in Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix.
According to related government agencies on the 12th, Temasek Holdings recently decided to invest in Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix and contacted the Korean government to explore the timing of investment execution.
The investment method is said to be direct investment through internal personnel rather than entrusted management through external asset managers. A financial authority official said, "As Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix stock prices have shown extreme volatility recently in the wake of the government's allowance of single-stock leverage exchange-traded funds (ETFs), they are contacting us to explore the timing of fund execution." This is Temasek Holdings' first investment in the Korean stock market.
Temasek Holdings is said to believe that the memory semiconductor sector, among AI value chains, is the most undervalued. An investment banking (IB) industry official said, "Temasek Holdings has an investment style of injecting large capital into industries leading the market from a long-term perspective," and added, "Despite the fact that Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix rose more than 880% from last year's low, it shows confidence that they will rise further in the future."
