I am in the middle of building up a Tarmac
The blackish components did not sit right with me, so I wanted to do something about them; polished shiny calipers, whether Red, Lewis or Hope, are either unavailable or far too expensive, so I am going to try the hand-polishing I used to do when working on classic road bikes.
First I bought drain-cleaner liquid at Daiso and dissolved the coating.
At first I sprayed it on with a watering can to avoid damaging the internal hydraulic passages and the cylinder working surfaces, but the stripping was so slow it drove me crazy, so I just submerged them.
Submerging really is the best.
If that ruins the hydraulic seals it is a shame, but I will have to throw them out ㅜㅜ
Next time I will buy Pikal, polish them to a shine, put a clear coat on and come back.
