This does not apply to experts and monsters.
Beginners only.
Being impatient by nature, my pedaling on every ride went like this.
Hammer away even though I cannot keep it up -> lungs and muscles exhausted -> stop pedaling and coast
-> slowly recover -> hammer away again -> quickly get tired again and coast
I repeat this endlessly and then collapse when I get home.
And it does not even amount to any great interval training.
I rode like that for 4 years (2 of which I practically quit)
Then, despite hardly riding, I changed bikes
and, having read something somewhere, I chose 160mm crank arms.
And I repeat the same thing all over again.
Hammer away even though I cannot keep it up -> lungs and muscles exhausted -> stop pedaling and coast
-> slowly recover -> hammer away again -> quickly get tired again and coast
But with the crank arms 10mm shorter, the cadence becomes unmanageable.
The point of total exhaustion comes much earlier.
Having just changed bikes I cannot exactly quit cycling, so I think about why this is happening.
As I think it over and look for a solution, unintentionally (!)
I come to realize the importance of continuous, unbroken pedaling.
I am probably the only fool like this on Dosa.
So ends the grumbling of a fool who took 4 years to understand
what people mean when they say maintaining cadence is important. ㅋㅋㅋㅋ
