Hello
I am simply writing down what I found after yesterday's ride. If you have a similar case, take note.
My wife and I live on the outskirts of Gyeonggi Province and there is no bike path nearby, so ever since we started we have consistently ridden in the field year-round and cannot do night rides,
so we ride the public road during the day, enter a nearby bike path, and ride 5~6 hours a day.
Even with the recent heatwave we kept riding, and our route is almost always the same: from home to Yangsu Station, then the tree-lined street to Rapha, then home,
On the weekend (Saturday, Sunday) the daytime high was 35~36 degrees, but yesterday, Tuesday, our day off, the forecast said 38 degrees, and the hottest spot really was 38.6 degrees
We rode the same course as on the weekend, resting often under a bridge whenever my wife got tired, and picking up bottled water on the bike path in Nowon-gu and Dobong-gu,
and returned safely As soon as we get back I charge the cycle computer, the dashcam and the Varia
The problem is that when you plug the Varia into the charger with the power off, normally a "green" light blinks and charging proceeds (it has been that way for over 2 years)
But yesterday a "red" light came on for both units and would not go off ㅠㅠ It was strange So I unplugged the power and left it, took a shower, washed the cycling clothes, ran the spin cycle, came back and plugged in the charger, and only then did charging proceed normally (this had never happened in over 2 years)
Probably the devices got a bit fried from being in direct sunlight above 40 degrees all day. I also replaced the water in my bottle while resting midway, and even that water got so hot at ambient temperature that it was undrinkable
However, the identical Garmin 1050 cycle computers were level and under the same conditions, and both my wife's and mine worked normally and charged normally.
Just in case, I should ask the Garmin service center.
Well then, ride carefully in this heat
