The domestic steel industry has risen up against Japan's government's anti-dumping tariff ruling on Korean steel. They argue that it is unreasonable to impose an anti-dumping duty even though they sold it more expensively in Japan than the domestic distribution price.
According to the steel industry on the 4th, the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry issued a preliminary anti-dumping ruling of 32.49~42.69% for Korean galvanized steel plates from POSCO, KG Steel, Dongkuk S&M, SeAH S&M, etc. on the 24th of last month. Provisional anti-dumping tariffs will be imposed from the 8th of this month, and the final ruling will be issued in December.
The domestic steel industry refuted that dumping itself was impossible in this judgment. The average price of galvanized steel plates in the domestic market as of 2024, the period subject to the dumping investigation, is 1,118,000 won per ton. On the other hand, the average import price of Korean galvanized steel plates in Japan is 1,167,584 won.
