I did not know bike size mattered and thought a few millimeters would make no difference
so I just rode, but I came to learn that is not the case.
I am going to sell the bike and buy again.
Height 166.5cm
Inseam 74cm
1. Merida Scultura size S (2021)
- I did not know back then, and maybe it was because I was a beginner, but
after about an hour I remember severe pain in my shoulders and wrists.
Back then I thought it was like that for everyone, so I endured it
and rode. Partway through I gave up and sold it.
2. Giant TCR size M (2022)
- It was really comfortable, but the bars felt far away
so I only changed the stem from 100mm
to 90mm and rode it well (more than 3 times a month at over 100km)
- The people I rode with asked why I ride like Superman,
and when I asked around at cafes and elsewhere the opinion was that it is too big,
and as I rode the bars kept feeling far away,
the brakes did not feel like they gripped well, and I felt like I was sitting on the tip of the saddle,
so I sold it.
This time I am looking to adopt a 2024 Specialized Tarmac SL7 Comp
and I am agonizing over the size.
I thought either the 49 or the 52 would do,
but a listing I really like
came up in 49, so before buying I would like to ask for your advice.
Would it be better to buy the 49 and lengthen the stem as I go?
Or should I buy the 52?
If you have a similar experience or any advice, I would appreciate it.
