Hyundai Motor plans to expand and apply the Pleos Connect (hereinafter referred to as Pleos), which was first applied to 'The New Grandeur,' to major models such as 'The All-New Avante' scheduled to be launched in the fourth quarter, and the new Tucson.

So far, automotive FoD services have been limitedly operated centered on some models such as Tesla's supervised autonomous driving (FSD) or Kia EV9's remote parking assist.

The installation of Pleos on 'The New Grandeur,' a representative model that sells hundreds of thousands of units annually, is expected to be a catalyst for the expansion of FoD service base.

Hyundai Motor Group plans to secure system stability and expand Pleos installation to all Kia models from next year, aiming to build a global '20 million unit ecosystem.'

Pleos, developed by Hyundai Motor Group's global software center 42dot, is based on Android Automotive OS (AAOS), allowing users to download apps like smartphones and flexibly add and control vehicle functions.

An automotive industry official said, "Hyundai Motor's sequential strategy of building a foundation through volume models and Kia joining next year is a move to secure both platform stability and economies of scale," adding, "The domestic automobile market will now be reorganized from simple manufacturing option competition to software content competition."
