Facebook will tighten buying and selling rules on Marketplace by requiring identity verification using an ID card and facial scan for certain product categories such as electronics, vehicles, and property. This policy aims to prevent fraud and misuse of accounts by bots or fake accounts. Sellers who pass verification will receive a "Verified Seller" badge and their products will be prioritized by the Facebook algorithm. In addition, Meta is launching a new app called Seller that helps sellers manage their stores on Marketplace with features such as automatic product title and description creation and order tracking. The Seller app is currently only available to iPhone users in the United States.
