President of KSPI Said Iqbal reported the potential for mass layoffs against nearly 1,500 workers in Central Java. Two garment companies, PT Victoria Apparel in Semarang and PT Samwon in Jepara, are suspected of carrying out termination of employment against approximately 800 and 670 workers respectively. Said Iqbal will immediately report this information to the Chairman of the Task Force for Layoffs and the Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives for further handling. KSPI encourages various alternatives before layoffs are carried out, such as adjusting working hours and operational cost efficiency, as well as government policy intervention if necessary. If layoffs are unavoidable, Said Iqbal emphasized the importance of fulfilling all workers' rights according to laws and regulations.
