Up until about 10 years ago
most people said discs on a road bike were too much
and that rim brakes were plenty
but now discs are the default..
I really liked that distinctive feel(?) of rim brakes lol
I still use the old stock Ultegra I bought 10 years ago
and as long as you maintain it, it does deliver disc-level performance.
