February one day......

I heard the news that Garmin released a new varia product.

It's called varia rearvue 820

I'm still using varia 515, but it was first released in 2020 and it's already been 6 years.

I'm also interested in bicycles and my early adopter personality kicked in, so I applied to attend the demo event.

I finally visited the Pedalring Gunja branch on Friday, February 27th.

It was my first time visiting the Pedalring store. Since it was a Garmin demo event, there was a GARMIN signboard at the entrance, so I knew I had found the right place ㅎㅎ

I arrived a little earlier than the start time so I could get a good seat. Later when I looked back, there were a lot of people who came, and I was surprised. It's true that there is a lot of interest in Garmin.

Oh~ YouTubers were here too. I briefly saw them when I was part of the Edge Experience Team a while back, so their faces were a little familiar. But it's been a long time, so I couldn't help but be happy to see them again.

The presentation for the Garmin Varia RCT715 started today with Taejin Ahn, manager of the Garmin marketing team.

The Baria 820 is said to be compatible with smartwatches and display approaching objects such as cars and bicycles.

I wish my watch was supported too.

And the mounting method has also changed. Previously, it was a single rubber band, but now it's changed to a rubber band shape for cadence sensors. Since it is double-connected, it seems that it will be more securely fixed, and above all, even if one line breaks, the other line can withstand it, so the risk of loss can be significantly reduced.

Wow... They did this? It was just a device that told you how close an object was approaching from behind, but now it can detect the size of the object too. And it even distinguishes the size of vehicles and shows them differently on the edge screen, like sedans and buses. I was amazed by the progress of technology.

In addition, the detection distance has been increased to 175m. Being able to detect vehicles approaching from farther away will naturally help ensure safety.

Wow. And the function I've been hoping for is finally in. Features like reduced speed and brighter rear lights to indicate slowing down have been added. The reason why I can't help but rejoice is that this function wasn't supported by the Bvaria 515, so I had to install additional taillights. Currently, I have two Bvaria 515 + Rockbros Q5s installed, one on top of the other. The Bvaria uses only the radar function, and the Rockbros is used for the lights and brake lights. But now, with just one 820, I can do it all.

Besides comparing 515 changes in a table, they said the brakes were improved, which already makes my heart flutter. They explained each change one by one, and since it's a product released after 6 years, everything is bound to be better.

Ah! One downside is that the weight increased. I don't remember exactly how much it increased, but since it wasn't a lightweight model to begin with, it wasn't a big concern.

After the manager's explanation, a panel discussion followed with the editor of Bike Magazine and Lunatic Cycling, who had already tried the Baria 820.

I thought, "What's the big difference since they are Radar products?" But as I listened to them talk about the good things they experienced while using the 820, I found myself getting drawn in. ㅋㅋ

After the presentation time ended, I was given time to experience the Varian 820 directly.

When did so many people gather?

The Baria 820 was installed outside the store, and the 1050 was prepared to be mounted on a bicycle for viewing.

As vehicles passed by, the screen displayed icons representing their sizes.

Ah... and I forgot to take a picture of it before, but now you can also see which lane the car is in on the screen.

Before, I would always get nervous when a car came up behind me, but now that I can see which lane it's coming from, it will be much more helpful. Recently, there have been many radar products similar to Baria released, and I wonder if I can follow suit.

So I got to experience the new BariA 820 product launch firsthand... and there was a raffle!

But. As expected, I didn't win ㅠㅜ I wasn't really expecting to~~

Congrats to the winners. ^^

That's thoughtful to give souvenirs to everyone who participated in the demonstration!!

My socks were all worn out anyway, so I needed them. Thank you for the nice gift.

I had been wanting the Varier 515 for a long time, and they finally upgraded most of the things I was disappointed with. Last night, I felt a strong urge to buy it.

The problem is the price. It's 449,000 won. I wish it were a little cheaper, but I think I might be able to get it for less if I use a shopping mall discount or coupon.
