I recently checked Wahoo's speedometer A/S policy and found some disappointing aspects, so I'm sharing this.
1. The speedometer is essentially not a 'repair' but a 'replacement policy'
(*According to the notice, all symptoms cannot be repaired and are subject to replacement policy)
2. Warranty excluded if not the original purchaser
(*Even within the warranty period, used items are excluded from warranty coverage)
When combining these two things, if you purchase a Wahoo Element Ace speedometer through a second-hand transaction and encounter boot failure or program
issues when sending it in for service, the speedometer cannot be repaired and since it's a second-hand transaction, warranty coverage is excluded even within the warranty period (*1 year).
Even if you receive and attach a receipt from the original purchaser, since it's a GPS-based model, they say that second-hand transaction can be confirmed by checking login and log records.
So when you send it in for A/S, it's unconditionally subject to replacement policy, and the replacement cost requires 50% of the new product price.
For example, if an Ace priced at 890,000 won has a program issue and you send it in for service, you must pay approximately 50% or 440,000 won for replacement.
These days, with many features and large screens, as an electronic device close to a smartphone it seems prone to malfunction, and the no-warranty policy for used items and replacement policy
seems to create some unreasonable burden on consumers, so I'm sharing this.
Rather than aiming to criticize a specific brand, I think it would be helpful for those considering a purchase to refer to this information.
