Gajah Gallery Jakarta welcomes Menamai | Naming, a new solo exhibition by Indonesian artist Octora, from 25 July to 23 August 2026. Featuring photography, weaving, sculpture, and installation, the exhibition presents new works inspired by archival photographs and ethnographic records. Across the exhibition, archival photographs are cut, woven, and reassembled into striking new compositions that explore how photography has shaped the way history is documented and remembered.
Among the highlights is “The Flower That Remembers,” Octora’s first aluminium sculpture, created in collaboration with Yogya Art Lab. Inspired by Rafflesia arnoldii, the sculpture looks at naming and classification, exploring how a single name can carry history over time.
