My brother-in-law, who had a disc Dogma F12, kept hearing a weird noise from the seatpost, so we went to a service center to get what's called an overhaul done
He'd bought it used off Bungae Jangter and rode it well for 2 seasons. Then it went down in a crash, the frame got scraped up, and the fork started making a creak-creak sound with every movement. That's when the mechanic said something strange. "Where'd you buy this?" .......he said "it was cheap on Bungae Jangter so I bought it"..
and the mechanic grabbed his head and said don't ride this, this frame is a fake. And not just any fake—an extremely bad fake lolllll
Watching from the side, I laughed for a good while. My brother-in-law is really....oblivious. He'd even entered races on that fake Dogma... And in real life he's an executive at a major corporation, so he lives very comfortably. But turns out it's a fake... I was laughing so hard, and he shot me a look like "what do I do now"..asking for help, so first off we listed it on Danggeun including the 9170 groupset, mentioning the defect and just planning to recoup the groupset value, wheelset WTO 60 included. We said it was a fake and that it made noise from the play in the joints lol. A Mongolian buyer came and took it off his hands super cheap. Said something about shipping it to Mongolia? Anyway he ended up selling it for less than a quarter of what he originally paid, and went back to riding his old S-Works Chameleon SL5 rim-brake bike, but I guess he couldn't forget the ride feel of the Dogma even though it was fake, because he said he wanted to order a new one. But honestly, with all the bike sales going on lately, I didn't see much upside to buying brand new, so I stepped in and said, "why don't you just buy used—I've got the money from selling the fake Dogma, add that to it and pick up a real Dogma on Dosa"... I also listed his S-Works SL5 for sale for him and I'm not sure how much it'll go for lol
After a lot of lurking, I finally found a listing I liked—right size, reasonable wear, good groupset spec—so I begged and negotiated hard and put down about a 35% deposit ...we set a plan for tomorrow, a day trip from Seoul all the way to Yeosu in Jeollanam-do. Of course, my brother-in-law said "sorry but I can't go".. but... he just kept saying, "you have to bring that bike back to me, no matter what."..
Cervelo's nice too.......but he's just fixated on the Dogma...so I'm heading out to Yeosu tomorrow....
I'll go for a ride with my brother-in-law this weekend and post photos..
Thanks to whoever sold a good Dogma F for cheap
