This is a bicycle called Standard's Pathfinder.
The frame material is chromoly and the genre is endurance.
If it were a mediocre stem, I wouldn't have thought about it, but with specs of 120mm and -17, wouldn't it be interesting to set it up with a flat bar?
After thinking about it, I installed Level Ultimate brakes (for XC), and shifters on both sides, and rode with that setup.
As you might know, flat bars aren't particularly comfortable and given the steering fun, I was only riding nearby places...
Due to Taiwan holidays, I waited for a while, and finally the brake hose connector arrived.
I purchased two female connectors and four male connectors like this,
Of course, they are divided for mineral and DOT, and SRAM hoses are divided into two inner diameters of 2.1mm and 2.5mm.
I purchased after carefully checking this, and despite being EMS, it arrived in Korea in just 5 days including holidays ㄷㄷ
I installed the connector under the stem, and of course, it needs to be bled.
While bleeding, there was no particular sense of strangeness, and I finished it by removing just a small amount of air bubbles.
When I remove the safety pin, the connector comes off easily, and there's no change in brake feel when air enters or when reconnecting.
This method is used in motorcycle racing to connect brake calipers and hoses for easy maintenance, so it can be considered a verified method.
By disconnecting the brake hose, I can easily remove the handlebar.
In this state, if I squeeze the brakes, they're stiff and don't grip at all, but when I reconnect them, they work normally...
Now that the flat bar setup is done, I'm installing the drop bar and realigning everything.
And then do some fun bleeding again.
How many times am I bleeding in a day...=_=
Still, since it's only partial bleeding, not full bleeding, it finishes quickly, but doing it consecutively is tough.
Because of the connector, I routed the brake line on the drop bar like in the photo.
The reason I came up with this method is
1. SRAM is wireless, so there's no other wiring besides the brake hose.
2. SRAM AXS components connect easily, so it's done after changing the handlebar and just pairing.
3. The XPLR handlebar has the brake hose running in the groove at the bottom, not inside the handlebar.
Just because I set it up this way doesn't mean I ride with the flat bar today and the drop bar tomorrow.
In practice, handlebar replacement is possible within 5 minutes, but I don't do it that often...ㅋ
While riding with the flat bar, when I need to take a plane (as people often say), I can easily switch to the drop bar or remove the handlebar, so in terms of convenience,
I think it would be nice.
But I just did it for fun ㅋ
