The day I was defeated by ChatGPT...

A pleasant ride in nice weather.

It's the Weather Old Man here.

Before heading to the Goseong race, I figured I should

do at least one 100-kilometer ride,

so I rode 80 last week and 100 this week.

My pedaling balance came out at 53-47,

and my heel was hurting,

so I asked ChatGPT for a solution.

That thing gave a pretty smart answer, actually.

And so,

it told me to move the cleat down a bit more.

About 3mm?

So I moved it down 3mm and got ready to head out for the ride.

But then?

Before the ride, I lifted the shoe insole and noticed

a yellow arch pad was stuck in there,

so I removed the pad,

and since I'd taken out the pad, should I put the cleat back to its original position?

When I asked,

it said to ride the full 100km and check afterward.

I trusted it since it had been making good training plans too.

But. Then...

From the very first uphill, I started feeling discomfort.

Pain in my erector spinae that hadn't bothered me before,

pain on the outside of my left knee,

pain around my right kneecap.

Strange? Maybe I just need time to adjust?

I pushed through and rode all the way to Jinha,

and around the 50km mark, climbing the steep pass toward Wolnae, disaster struck.

IT band pain

came back for the first time in nearly 10 years...

The remaining 50km I barely scraped through

with aching knees and made it home.

And then,

last night the pain was so bad I put on a pain patch and went to sleep, and when I woke up,

walking is fine but stairs bring a slight twinge of pain.

I had finally gotten my cleat fitting dialed in perfectly after using it for over 10 years,

and I changed it on ChatGPT's advice — what a scare.

I'm only going to half-trust this thing from now on. Dumb thing...

Was I the dumb one, or was ChatGPT the dumb one? Haha
