Suffering from the cold weather and reluctant to ride, I used to take a season off around November each year.
Since last year, I've been determined to train properly and registered for the academy to do indoor training throughout the winter, and even field riding on weekends with video analysis in January and February.
As a result, I managed to ride 700-800km even in January and February.
It's still March, which is cold, but my current feeling is... indoor training and field riding are really different.
In my opinion, doing indoor training 2-3 times a week at the academy consistently has definitely increased my short-term power.
However, when it comes to field riding, since I couldn't ride much in the winter, riding over 100km with an elevation gain of over 1000m is difficult. I can somehow complete tempo rides, but the feeling of being overwhelmed is strong.
As far as I'm concerned, I think it's right to consider winter farming indoor training as a way to prevent detraining and slightly increase interval ability.
1. When others who took a break in the winter start the season with a minus, can I enter with at least 0 or even +10 points?
2. Will my growth rate be faster when I ride in the field with those merits?
3. Can I avoid the pain of overcoming detraining? (If you start the season after detraining, it's common to get hit by a headwind and have to climb steep hills)
I didn't feel as dramatic a change as I thought...
It seems like it.
From March when I start riding in the field seriously, subtle differences will gradually emerge, and they may become significantly larger differences by summer and autumn, but that's how I feel right now.
I keep hearing the sound of altitude drops around me, but everyone is not doing it.
Understanding altitude seems to be the most important point for amateurs to improve their skills.
No matter how much you train, if you take a break for a few weeks due to injury, serious detraining will occur.ㅜㅜ
