A user quietly riding an Aethos 2 amid the bustling chatter about Tarmac SL9.
I was using the Rapid cockpit 420-100 but switched to the Terra cockpit for several reasons, and I'm writing this for others to refer to when choosing a cockpit.
1. Bar reach is 5mm shorter.
While the bar width narrowed by 40mm and the bar reach shortened by 5mm compared to the Rapid, I boldly chose a 110mm stem and it was a bullseye.
Gained the vibe of a long stem with almost no change in perceived reach.
2. Riding comfort
Since it was designed for gravel, the front riding comfort is incomparably better than the Rapid. I don't sprint often so I couldn't properly compare rigidity.
Also, with its semi-aero shape, the grip is excellent when holding the flat section.
3. 12-degree flare
Thanks to the wide flare, the drop width is similar to the Rapid 420. During dancing, the sense of unfamiliarity is minimized.
4. Shallow drop
The drop is also less pronounced than the Rapid, making it very easy to grip. For those with shorter arms like me, drop utility would likely increase.
5. Appearance
The V-shaped silhouette bent in the opposite direction from the Rapid also provides distinctive aesthetic satisfaction.
Summary
Although I was hesitant because it's for gravel, considering my body characteristics and riding style, it was an excellent choice.
