Starting last year, I picked up a Scalpel 2 from Carrot Market and rode it for a year, then made my first upgrade.
A Chinese OEM carbon frame with full Ultegra groupset came up for sale, so I bought it right away,
I brought it thinking it was a 2021 model, but after checking the seller's comments, it turns out to be a 2020 model ㅜㅜ
I completed it with a Potential PT-R8000 stem and Marble Light handlebars at 7.8kg.
The lever condition wasn't great, so I proceeded with restoration.
When I focused on grinding down the fine spots, I noticed the paint was peeling off,
The Ultegra lever appears to be plastic with carbon fiber in it?
Looking at the visible color of the lever, it appeared to be the color unique to that material, so I restored it with just clear coat.
After the first coat, the gloss was slightly dulled.
When I polished it with compound, the color tone I saw right after purchase reappeared.
I didn't take the photos well, so I couldn't capture the unique color tone properly. It looks good to the naked eye though.
You might wonder why I buy such things. I'm just a hardware enthusiast, so I like buying used items and fixing them up.
I've also modified the MTB I've been using into an electric bike. There's a lot to tinker with on bikes, so it's enjoyable.
