A Jeju Island story of a 2-night, 3-day run with a boxer and a runner.

 Hello. I'm Keroro Sergeant.
(My nickname before my old account was hacked was Kekero Sergeant.)

I'm Ja덕, and I ride a bicycle. I share my thoughts and experiences while riding.

Sometimes I share information and experiences about cycling.

I recently completed the Jeju Island Circumnavigation, which I've always wanted to do while cycling. It was a great experience.

This wasn't my first time on Jeju Island, but the weather was bad last time, so I couldn't complete the circumnavigation and had to give up.

After that, my cycling friends quit...ㅠㅠ Everyone else left to play golf, baseball, etc., and I was the only one left...

I started cycling 20 years ago and have been riding ever since.
( I had to sell my bike for a while due to financial reasons... and now I'm riding a Cannondale Rapide ㅎ )

By chance, among these stories
I had some cycling friends who said "Let's go to Jeju Island once. My birthday present is a Jeju Island Circumnavigation together."
That one sentence moved the hearts of two people. ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ

One of the two was the person who introduced me to cycling, and the other had never ridden a bicycle before but was a runner in the neighborhood who was known for his speed ㅋㅋ
(By the way, the runner didn't have a bike, so an acquaintance provided him with a Cannondale Track SL model for free.)

The ferry departed at 1 am, but there were a lot of people.
There seemed to be a lot of people on Jeju Island. There were also many cyclists.

We prepared for the Jeju Island Circumnavigation and took a ferry from Mokpo to Jeju Island. We completed it over three days and two nights.
Departing from Mokpo at 1 a.m. on Friday...

Finally arrived in Jeju Island
I used the luggage delivery service and it was very convenient to ride a bicycle.
If you reserve the day before, they will deliver it to your accommodation... It was really convenient.

Changed into cycling clothes and departed from Jeju Coastal Port in a counterclockwise direction~
I'm not good at taking pictures, so the runner won the photographer lottery during the Jeju Island race ㅋㅋ
Boxer (the one who introduced me) turned on Garmin for the first time in a long time and is explaining..

Picture with the runner
The runner is handsome. He looks like an artist, so everyone wonders what he does. ㅋㅋㅋ
Long hair and beard suit him well. ㅋㅋ

Passed Yongduam and came to a beach I don't know...
Our runner is a complete artist... Cool...

Thinking about it, I don't have many pictures of myself with my bike...
So I took a lot of pictures in Jeju Island this time. ㅎㅎ

As everyone knows... Jeju Island is crowded with people and cars.
Even though I was riding on a bike path, it was definitely more crowded because it was the weekend, and there were many dangerous moments.
You really have to be careful even with parked cars in Jeju Island...

Runner and Boxer (the one who introduced him) two-shot
The runner has a great physique, and since he's been running consistently, even though this was his first time riding a bike,
he was amazing on the uphill climbs and with his cardio endurance.
And right after the runner started cycling, he did a Jeju Island round trip...
(The runner said he could even go another lap after completing the Jeju Island round trip... chills)

As soon as we arrived at the accommodation, he lay down right away. ㅋㅋ
It seems like the first day was a battle against the wind...
All my friends were stiff. ㅋㅋ And the boxer (the one who introduced him) fell asleep right away. ㅋㅋㅋ
I woke him up and made him eat a snack and do some stretching. For tomorrow.

A photo before departure from the accommodation on day 2...
We always took the same pose, so we decided to try following how the new generation takes photos and we gave it a try.
We're all in our late 30s...

Day 2
Rain started in the evening the day before and continued until the morning of day 2.
To be honest, I was thinking of giving up for safety reasons, but the rain stopped and the weather cleared up quickly, which was surprising.
The weather was really nice.
Although I've visited Jeju Island many times with my family on trips, today the weather in Jeju Island was really beautiful.

I can't forget that bicycle path coastal road on the way from the Jungmun accommodation to Beophwan Tidal Flat.
I've never enjoyed sightseeing while cycling and just spacing out like this before.
It's definitely a place I must come back to.
(Be careful: the bicycle path is formed narrowly with the pedestrian path, and there's a car lane right next to it, so you need to be careful)

And while climbing the hill past Beophwan Tidal Flat, the runner was confused because they couldn't put on the cleats
I thought maybe it was a problem that I was trying to teach them about cleats on their first ride in Jeju Island.
When I got down and checked, the screws fixing the cleats were missing....
It was the first time experiencing that happening while cycling, so I quickly took one from the other shoe and put 2 on each...

For safety, we left the route and went to a bike shop to purchase and install cleats
Thanks to that, we had a cup of coffee in the shade and set off again.
The bike shop owner's regular shift started at 1 PM, but because of us, they came out early and serviced us.
(The owner of 'Jeju One Bike' located in Seogwipo is really kind.)

The boxer rests comfortably every time we resupply.ㅋㅋㅋㅋ
Since it's a coastal road, even with good weather, we can't avoid the wind.
Day 2 was a battle against headwinds.
This time too....I tried following the way the new generation takes photos...
They said that's how the new generation takes photos there...dangerously...ㅋㅋ

On the way to the Sungsan Ilchulbong certification center, due to continuous steep hills, our boxer was dying...
We gave energy gels in the middle...gave encouragement...when falling back, we'd turn around and ride alongside together
Our boxer really suffered a lot. I was really sorry.ㅠㅠ

Meal after finishing day 2's schedule
By the way, that great guy came to Jeju Island impulsively because he was bored and wanted to see us
And he left the next day.... Really a great guy
After eating outside, the boxer wanted to have king-sized snacks, so we had a simple drink at the accommodation
Getting older, thinking back on memories of spending time with friends like this when we were young was really nice.
I was in such a good mood that day, so I drank 3 or more bottles of soju..ㅋㅋ
( I don't remember ㅋㅋ)
Last day, day 3
Everyone was struggling with hangovers, so after having a refreshing hangover soup nearby, a photo before departure
I was so out of it from the hangover that I cycled after sobering up. My stomach was hurting but there was no bathroom so I just endured it ㅎㅎ
Because I was thinking it was the last time, I felt sad...and wistful...
Final photo at Hamdeok Seowoo Peak Beach, the last certification center, all three of us on the last day
Jeju Island is really beautiful, and the more I cycle, the more I feel drawn to it.
I want to come back next year and feel this feeling again.

Safely arrived at Mokpo
Everyone seems satisfied, but whether we can ride again with these guys....
Thanks for listening to this incompetent friend's request... Boxer and Runner...

Finally
I was really grateful that the boxer recommended cycling to me during a difficult time.
When cycling, it's nice to be able to shake off anxiety and worries.
Boxer, thanks for introducing me to cycling and let's come back again...
And I really hope the runner would cycle, but they mainly focus on running and swimming
They said they can't cycle much, but... you should cycle

I know this post seems poorly organized and hard to read, but I really wanted to keep this as either a memory or a record
So I gathered the courage to leave these memories.
As a bonus
This is a story I wrote before on my old account.
(Rode with the boxer ㅋㅋ)
