This is my third year participating in the Wonju Grand Fondo. I arrived at the venue yesterday after a five-hour bus ride. Before the start, I stopped by the mechanic booth and had my front wheel crack diagnosed. I came from far away and spent a lot of money, but I ended up forfeiting the race. It's terrifying to think about what could happen if I risked it and fell during the downhill section. Even if I were the only one injured, the hospital bills and repair costs would be significant. But if I hurt someone else, I would have to pay a lot of compensation for personal injury and also ruin their race. So, even though I traveled a long way, I folded and went back home. I'm writing this with next year in mind.
