I used to use Ultegra DI2, and I got back into cycling with a Domane around October last year.
Road racing style setup and riding are now risky.. Considering the impact on my family as a father if I get injured, I'm riding with safety first... I've set up my Domane like a gravel bike. I'm also running 35c Pathfinder tires..
Anyway, I used Ultegra really well. There was absolutely no inconvenience at all.
I got it with SRAM Rival D1, and the braking is honestly terrible.
The left lever and front brake are fine. But the right brake has a spongy feeling, and there's definitely something off about it.
I thought it might be a bleeding issue and requested a check, so they bled it again, but nothing really changed. Flat riding is fine, but when going downhill.. the right brake lever touches the drop bar.
When I need stronger braking power (of course I balance front and rear braking evenly - basics, basics!!), even if I want more braking force from the rear, the lever is already touching the drop bar, so I can't pull it any harder. I get nervous every time I go downhill, so I avoid it.
When buying new, I was torn between Rival and Ultegra, and chose Rival to try SRAM out... the bike price difference was only 100,000 won anyway.. Ah.. I keep regretting I should have just gone with Ultegra.
I visited the shop again yesterday and complained about the issue, and they said the only way is to send it to the manufacturer for lever inspection. Well, of course that makes sense.
I can't ride right now anyway, so I guess I'll ride it a bit more,,,, and maybe send it in for inspection over the summer.. hmm...
