최근 5년간 추석 연휴 동안 자정부터 오전 6시까지의 교통사고는 전체 사고 건수의 9.8%에 불과했지만, 사망자는 전체의 27.6%를 차지하며 사고 100건당 사망자가 4.4명으로 가장 높았습니다. 반면 사고 건수가 가장 많았던 오후 6시부터 다음 날 오전 6시 사이에는 사고 100건당 사망자가 1.1명으로 나타났습니다. 추석 연휴 첫날은 다른 날들보다 교통사고 건수가 38.9% 더 많았으며, 대전 큰마을네거리 등 7곳에서는 5년 연속으로 사고가 발생했습니다. 새벽 시간대의 높은 사망률은 졸음운전과 과속 위험 증가 때문이며, 운전자들의 충분한 휴식과 안전 운전 참여가 중요합니다.
